hinese automaker Changan is set to expand its premium new energy vehicle portfolio with the upcoming launch of the Deepal S07, a mid-size SUV scheduled to debut on September 17.
The S07 is the latest highlight in Deepal’s growing lineup, which now includes five models: the G318, S09, S07, S05, and L07.
Deepal is Changan’s middle-to-high-end NEV brand, which was introduced in 2022 to capture the growing demand for upscale electric vehicles in China and abroad.
The S07 continues that mission with two powertrains: a pure battery-electric version for drivers seeking zero-emission performance and an extended-range electric model that pairs an electric motor with a small engine to alleviate charging concerns. The new model also underscores Changan’s strategy to compete in the fast-growing global EV market.
The EREV version combines a 1.5-liter gasoline range extender producing 98 horsepower with an electric motor rated at either 258 or 272 horsepower. It delivers a pure electric range of about 143–186 miles and a maximum combined range of up to 510 miles, with fuel efficiency around 47.8 miles per gallon.
The fully electric variant features a 272-horsepower motor and an estimated 342-mile range on a single charge, supported by a 79.97 kWh lithium-ion battery with fast-charging capability.
Both versions are rear-wheel drive with single-speed transmissions and accelerate from 0–60 mph in approximately 7.5–7.6 seconds, making the S07 a strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment. Furthermore, the S07 comes equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS SE, a sophisticated assisted driving system that brings many intelligent features to everyday travel.
At the core of this technology is High-speed Navigation Cruise Assist, which allows the SUV to easily handle national highways, urban expressways, and ring roads.
It can execute smart lane changes, avoid obstacles, navigate curves, adjust speed, and even manage on- and off-ramp transitions.
For city driving, the Urban LCC Plus function takes control of lane cruising, supports lever-activated lane changes, responds to traffic lights, and assists with complex urban lane shifts.
Parking is simplified as well, thanks to Intelligent Parking Assist. It can handle more than 160 different parking scenarios and offers multiple methods and angles, including memory parking and off-vehicle operation, so drivers can step out and let the S07 park itself.
The new launch also builds on Deepal’s global expansion strategy, which includes entering over 100 markets across Southeast Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
In Europe, Deepal has launched the S07 in countries such as Germany, Norway, the UK, the Netherlands, and Denmark, with plans to expand further.
